Abstract

In Burkina Faso, the specialty drugs are not enough to meet all the requirements of clinical services, particularly those of pediatrics. So, the development hospital preparations is necessary. The Hospital pharmacies made many preparations to improve the care of patients, but the situation of these preparations in our university hospital centers is not determined. The objective of this study is thus to determine the hospital preparation needs in the pediatric departments at the university hospitals of Ouagadougou.Methodology: We leaded a cross-sectional survey in the department pediatric from May 18 to September 30, 2018. The study focused was the prescribers of these services and the exhaustive sampling. The data was collected using completed questionnaires during physician interviews and processed with Epi Info and Excel 2016 software. Results: A total of 74 physicians were interviewed representing 96% of the study population. From this inquiry, the following main findings emerge:-       57 molecules were desired in hospital preparations among which the most desired are: the captopril desired by 50% of the physicians, ciprofloxacin (43.24%), phenobarbital (43.24%), omeprazole (40.54 %), furosemide (36.49%), tramadol (28.38%), phloroglucinol (25.68%), amoxicillin + clavulanic acid (16.22%), propranolol (16.22%). ), cefotaxime and ranitidine desired by 10.81% of the interviewees;-       The liquid oral form is the most desired galenic form for 77% of the molecules followed by the injectable form with 26% of the molecules;-       The desired dosages for the different galenic forms are various.Discussion: the drugs desired in hospital preparations by physicians are almost all non-existent in the market in view of the national nomenclature of specialty and generic drugs registered in Burkina Faso. This justifies the need to put the hospital preparations activity into practice in our university hospital centers.
Conclusion: This study has highlighted the need for the hospital preparations in the pediatric departments at the university galenic form hospitals of Ouagadougou. It can therefore constitute a database for the realization of hospital preparations.
